From One Little Mister

HOW I FIT IN MY PRE-PREGNANCY JEANS 10 DAYS POSTPARTUM

Our fourth little bundle of joy was born November 5th. Just like with all of our kiddos, my short torso meant I carried most (okay, all) of her out front. It also means that my stomach was stretched to it’s limits. I have to admit that I was a little concerned that I would never escape my pregnancy stretchy pants. It doesn’t help that more than one person mentioned I would probably not be able to bounce back from this pregnancy.

At about 4 days postpartum I found this belt by Mamaway. I ordered it on amazon and received it via Prime in just two days. I first tried it on at 10 days postpartum. The instructions suggested I wear it for the first four weeks. I was totally okay with not being able to fit into my normal non-stretchy jeans for a while, but I followed the instructions and realized a few things…

  • When I layed down to strap this on, I felt immediate support, not only in my stomach, but also in my back which had been through the ringer during my non-medicated delivery.
  • I felt a little more confident about the mom bulge.
  • I knew right away that I was going to fit in those jeans I had tried on yesterday (and then took back off), but was 2 inches away from being able to wear.

As soon as I put this on, I ran over and got my pants slipped them over. I figured their was a chance that the bulk of the belt would take up any extra space I’d had and that I still wouldn’t be able to fasten my pants.

So this is me, wearing my pre-pregnancy pants just 10 days postpartum AND my favorite belt.

The belt is actually a combination of three belts. There is one larger strap that goes around you and then two smaller belts that kind of help finish the job. For me, the two smaller belts may have been what actually allowed me to get on my pre-preggo pants. Once I had on the bigger belt, the two smaller belts, cinched tight, helped me tighten it the rest of the way.

So, here’s some additional points I wanted to make about this belt.

  • It’s not itchy or irritating to the skin.
  • You can wear it higher or lower. The model shown is wearing it higher, but I needed it lower to help with my baby flab.
  • You can sit and stand without issues, it doesn’t get in the way.
As I note, I wanted to add that you should love your pre pregnancy body, no matter what it looks like. For me this belt is about support. I was horribly out of shape when we got pregnant and my back labor made for some painful postpartum days. This belt has helped me personally with both.
